Channel 4’s Gogglebox has paid reverence to a former anecdotist Caroline Aherne.

The singer and comedian died final month aged 52 after a conflict with cancer.

Wednesday evening’s Gogglebox: Brexit special resolved with a difference “In amatory memory of Caroline Aherne” created opposite a screen.

Half The World Away by Oasis, a thesis strain to The Royle Family, that Aherne wrote and starred in, was afterwards played over a finish credits.

Aherne was also good famous for appearing in The Fast Show and as a horde of The Mrs Merton show.

At a time of her death, Gogglebox creator Tania Alexander tweeted she was “beyond unhappy about a detriment of my dear companion Caroline Aherne”.

Craig Cash, who seemed alongside Aherne on The Royle Family and co-wrote a show, has taken over as a anecdotist of Gogglebox.
